??Stellenbosch 万博体育官网 Japan Centre (SUJC), in partnership with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) hereby invite SU staff and students to a lecture by Dr KITAOKA Shinichi, former JICA president, under the JICA Chair, a seminar programme on Japan's modernisation and global development cooperation.

Lecture title: Learn from the successes and lessons of Japan's modernisation history.

Japan is the first non-Western country to become a developed country and can be a model for developing countries striving for similar free, democratic, peaceful, and prosperous nation-building based on the law without compromising traditions and identity. This lecture will focus on the process of Japan's modernisation and the actions of the leaders who led the process, and discuss what the younger generation, who are responsible for their countries' growth in a rapidly changing world context, can and should do for the development of their own countries.
