The centenary message (an apology for the injustices of the past) was done in three languages (Afrikaans, English and isiXhosa) and has been placed on the walls of the central SU Library. The wording of the message is as follows: “In its 2018 Centenary Year, SU celebrates its successes and achievements. We also acknowledge, with deep regret, our role in the injustices of our country's past. SU commits itself to the ideal of an inclusive, world-class university in and for Africa.
